Sunset Brass NP 4-8-4 Needs Speaker Rework

Sunset Models just released a NP HO 4-8-4 featuring QSI Q1a sounds. Unfortunately the overseas company that built the units failed to properly baffle the speakers resulting in poor sound.

Several area modelers and shops brought this to our attention. They also stated that they preferred the whistle used on the Broadway Ltd HO GN #700 SP&S (QSI #308).

Since there was no significant baffling in the tender we decided it would be easier for the users to add speakers with baffles to resurrect the proper sounds. We chose and installed two of our 1.1" HB Speakers and Enclosures, available from our dealers.

To do this we needed to remove the existing speaker platform by removing the two screws that mount the platform to the tender. See the photo below. The relatively simple fix solved the problem resulting in the QSI sound module producing the superior sounds we have come to expect.

We created a new sound file for the Sunset 4-8-4 with the alternate SP&S whistle. The original Sunset file is ho320-0, the new file with the SP&S whistle is ho320-2.
